I talk a lot about The Whimsical Spot in my bookings and newsletter, but unless you’ve done a session with me before, you may be a little confused. So, here’s a little backstory on one my favorite outdoor locations:

I found The Whimsical Spot one day while out geocaching with my family. It was mid-day when the lighting should be awful, but I still knew right then that this was going to be my favorite spot FOREVER. My husband was a bit confused at the time – he saw houses and some rough ugly features. But not me! I saw the vibrant green trees in the summer time and the amber leaves in the fall. The lighting, when timed right, would glow perfectly through the leaves. Kids would love exploring the natural features all around, and it would be so romantic near the bubbling brook for couple’s photos. It would fit just about any occasion at any time of year! Add a few fun props and appropriate attire, and my clients could have Spring photos, Christmas cards, family photos, senior portraits, and more! I couldn’t wait.

And sure enough, I’ve shot all of the above at this spectacular location. So where is this mysterious place? I’ll tell you that it’s in Highlands Ranch. I have to keep my secret safe, so I’m not posting the exact location on here. BUT if you’re adventurous enough, the best way to find it is to start geocaching in Highlands Ranch...you'll find it! 

What’s so special about this place? It has a low bridge that we can dangle our feet over – safe enough for little ones with their parents – beautiful fall color, and a cute little stream running under the bridge. The rocks, log feature, and tall grass are all provided by Mother Nature! No enhancing needed. What more do you want in an outdoor location? The best part is that although it looks like a place in a fairy tale, it’s actually super close to everything and easy to access!
